Rustic wedding. Hmmmmm what exactly does that mean? Nearly every wedding publication shows photos of a wedding that is described as “rustic.” Yet I can’t help but wonder, as I look at these photos of venue’s with barns that have been converted into incredible show pieces, and grass that has been meticulously groomed, what is so “rustic” about it? Is my interpretation of “rustic” something completely different from everyone else’s?
When I think of rustic, my mind goes to a place that showcases more of what Mother Nature has to offer, than modern amenities and decor disguised and advertised as “vintage.” Now I’m not suggesting that we forego all modern conveniences of the 21st century in order to achieve the look and feel of an earlier time…..but I can’t help think that we might be over doing it just a bit. Am I wrong?
Now mind you this blog is serving as a personal platform to introduce an idea that I’ve had for quite sometime. I am very fortunate to be the owner of 82 beautiful acres in the charming gold rush town of Murphys, Ca. Ever since I owned my own flower shop in town, I envisioned part of my property to serve as a truly “rustic” wedding site. So….as of this point in time we are in the clearing stages of the property to expose a truly lovely meadow among the Ponderosa Pines, natural grass, and brush. There is no power to the area, so we’ll begin with generators and the fabulous….and truly very old and large shed…. will be cleaned up, but not really changed…into something that might serve as a place for a rehearsal dinner or very small gathering. This site will truly fulfill the desire and definition of rustic. Mother Nature is the star of this venue, and I intend to try to maintain the natural beauty and integrity of the property as much as possible. It is land that was homestead in the middle of the 19th century and will be passed on to my children in the future.
Stay tuned for what will truly be a rustic and beautiful venue for private events only. I’ll release more information as time goes on! Rustic redefined!!!

of actually creating an our own rustic wedding venue on our acreage in Murphys, Ca….oh boy…then I’ll
